LaCie knows how important data transfer speed of up to 5Gb/s is to computer and laptop users. And so, the company has decided to offer users a compatible USB 3.0 hub with their newest product – the LaCie Hub4 USB 3.0.
Combining performance, flexibility, and compatibility, the Lacie Hub4 USB 3.0 offers users 4 superSpeed storage drives, allowing them to enjoy data transfer speed up to 5Gb/s when connected to a USB 3.0-equipped computer on one side and to a USB 3.0 storage solution on the other. But of course, it’s also backwards-compatible with USB 2.0 storage solutions, so it’s guaranteed to work with almost all laptops, computers, and even netbooks. Take note, however, that with USB 2.0, transfer speed is only capped at 480Mb/s. Also, users have to note that this OS will work with the latest versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 / Mac OS X 10.5, 10.6 (USB 2.0 only) and requires an external adapter in order to work. Quite an inconvenience, since some USB 3.0 connectors do not require one. But that’s only for now because for sure, LaCie will improve this in future models.
Now, when it comes to portability, users will definitely find this easy to carry around since it only weighs 1.9 ounces. Plus, with its size measuring only 2.8 x 4.6 x 1 inches, this will only take a minimum amount of space around anyone’s desk.
