The long wait is over for those looking for a way to enjoy awesome music, minus the wires. Bowers & Wilkins officially announced at the CES its next generation iPhone/iPod speaker dock with AirPlay support. Known as the Zeppelin Air, this audio hardware boasts Apple’s AirPlay technology, allowing users to stream music wirelessly from their Mac or PC running iTunes or directly from their favorite cool gadgets such as iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. And yes, there’s no need to dock the device, simply choose the track you like and AirPlay allows you to play it in an instant.
Now, if you want to enjoy awesome music in multiple rooms, you can add one more Zeppelin Air for an elegant multi-room system. Let’s say you want to enjoy music in the kitchen while one is playing in the living room, just select a different Zeppelin Air and then start playing it there, less the hassle and without the wires.
As for dock compatibility, the Zeppelin Air can accommodate a wide range of iPhone and iPod models. In fact, its dock connector works perfectly with iPhone 3GS, iPhone, iPhone 3G, the latest iPhone 4, the 1st upto 4th generations of iPod touch, and the 2nd upto 6th generations of iPod Nano. But since it features USB connectivity, you can also use any of these gadgets without docking them to add more playlists or sync with iTunes. All you need to do is connect the speaker to your PC via USB and your gadget will be linked directly to iTunes.
